Chasing new consumer behaviors and technologies, 2023 looks to be an exciting year in marketing.
User experience (UX) refers to how a visitor feels when interacting with a system or process. Providing a positive experience fulfills a user’s interests and keeps them loyal to a product or brand.
Your Website
is your most valuable marketing asset. It is your efficient front office, the face of your brand. It conveniently answers your visitor’s questions and effectively points them to the information or service they seek. Keep your site layout simple with easy navigation. Optimize your website for mobile because more than half of your users now are on their mobile devices and demand what they seek quickly. Avoid overwhelming users with too much information on the main pages.
Some current design trends include:
- Minimalism – every element has a clear, key purpose
- Intuitive navigation – moving seamlessly to focus on the information the user does want and bypassing what they don’t want
- Eliminate intrusive advertising and popups
- Animated elements to add intrigue – visual interest in motion to grab and hold attention.
- “Scrollytelling” – telling a story visually as the user scrolls, for example with infographics
- Bold colors, no more than three
- Video content
Video-Based Content
is becoming a key focus area in websites and particularly in social media marketing. Video captures a viewer’s attention for a longer amount of time compared to static posts, even with bite-size TikToks or Instagram reels. Videos drive engagement and increase brand awareness especially among millennials and Gen Z.
Live Streaming
is another effective marketing trend. Consumers spent around 548 billion hours streaming through mobile devices in 2021. Live streaming lets subject matter experts or influencers talk about or demonstrate the product and allows potential customers to engage in real time with the presenters and even purchase all while watching the stream. The stream can then be available as a video to potential customers even after the live event.
User-Generated Content
is video created by consumers rather than companies. UGC is the new trusted review, the new word-of-mouth. Unboxing reviews, makeup how-to’s and even OOTD (Outfit of the Day) are all examples of user-generated content. UGC results in 29% higher web conversions than campaigns or websites without it. Generating Ads
when it comes to advertising, whether in a printed piece or on social media platforms remember the average reader’s attention span these days is about 140 characters, or the maximum length of a tweet. If you’re using more text than that, not counting your company name and contact info, you’ve probably written too much.
